WASHINGTON, May 20, 2026 /Standard Newswire/ — The highly anticipated US premiere of the historical epic film Victory or Death was hosted Sunday evening, May 17th, where a distinguished audience from the worlds of film, diplomacy, and culture gathered at the Trump Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, for a private screening.
The premiere event for the new film honoring the timeless fight for faith and liberty was timed to take place in conjunction with America’s special event, Rededicate 250 – a historic National Jubilee of Prayer held on Washington, DC’s National Mall the same day, featuring guest speakers including Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, The Chosen star Jonathan Roumie, and others.
The roster for the Victory or Death gala included a host of special guests, among them Archduke Eduard Habsburg-Lothringen, Ambassador-at-Large for the Family of Hungary; Her Excellency Tamar Taliashvili, Ambassador of Georgia to the United States; Ron Maxwell, acclaimed writer and director of Gettysburg and Gods and Generals; Guillaume Allaire, Executive Producer of Victory or Death; Brian Brown, President of Innonde Films and US distributor; and popular American actor and writer David Henrie.
The premiere event, which began with a private reception and culminated in the screening, was met with a sold-out audience and a standing ovation following the film.
Victory or Death brings to life, through a powerful cinematic experience, the inspiring true story of the Vendée uprising — ordinary men, women, and children who heroically rose to defend their faith, lands, and freedom during one of history’s darkest chapters of the French Revolution.
Led by the reluctant-turned-heroic General Charette de La Contrie, a retired naval officer, the story underscores the importance of preserving values worth fighting for and poignantly portrays the courage and sacrifice required to protect them.
“Sacrifice for a cause, greatness of spirit, loyalty, courage, honor… It nourishes the soul… You realize you have seen something special,” one viewer described following the screening.
Victory or Death is based on the acclaimed French film Vaincre ou Mourir, released in France in 2023. The film was enthusiastically embraced by audiences in France, becoming a major word-of-mouth success.
The newly released English-language version of Victory or Death, which premiered May 17th in the United States, is now available on DVD and Blu-ray, with streaming coming soon.
