ELGIN, Ill., Sept. 14, 2026 /Standard Newswire/ — This past summer, 68 adults and their families, including 21 children, voluntarily put their jobs on hold to serve as full-time missionaries for one year in 6 different countries as part of Acts2 Network’s foreign missions-mobilization efforts.
2026 marks our third year of sending teams into the international mission field. Our mission teams have engaged in a wide-range of ministry efforts, working alongside partner organizations like Word of Life, as well as local pastors and missionaries. We’ve also engaged in youth and international mentorship at several dozen universities.
While as a network, we’ve been engaged in church planting efforts for nearly twenty years, fueled by a culture of co-vocational ministry, 2024 marked a move towards foreign missions. Many of our members were inspired by mission mobilizers like Paul Worcester, the National Collegiate Director of the North American Mission Board, and burdened for the lost through their own short-term mission experiences. Many expressed a strong desire to go to the foreign mission field for a longer duration, and in response to the interest, we were able to send 84 adults (along with their children) to go on foreign missions in 2024. In 2025, 81 adults were sent with their families. These teams are funded and supported through the wider church network.
As a way to enhance the day-to-day experience of being out on the mission field, teams operate like a family on mission and strive to emulate the local church found in Acts 2: evangelizing, serving, breaking bread over home-cooked meals and devoting themselves to God’s word and prayer in community. Locals are also invited into the homes to experience authentic, Christ-centered fellowship over meals.
To date, 260 people have made decisions to follow Jesus, and 13 people have been baptized. This year’s team will continue the good work started by previous teams, and help the new local believers to continue to mature in Christ and perhaps one day colabor to reach their own friends, families, and nations with the gospel of Jesus.
