ATLANTA, Sept. 29, 2026 /Standard Newswire/ — Growth Mindset Collaborative Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Dr. Michelle Ihrig, is expanding access to free and affordable PSAT/SAT preparation with a free 220+ page program, an affordable paid version, and a partnership program designed to support schools, churches, public libraries, and youth-focused nonprofits.
In the month of October, over one million teens are expected to take the PSAT or SAT. College Board data show a noticeable gap in SAT performance between students from the lowest- and highest-income groups. In the Class of 2025, just 16% of students in the lowest-income group met both College Board benchmarks for college readiness in reading/writing and math, compared with 63% in the highest-income group.
That gap is what Growth Mindset Collaborative aims to address. After more than 20 years teaching SAT preparation, Dr. Ihrig created a free program to help students strategically use high-quality resources already available at no cost. During the first full year of implementation, more than 200 students at her Title I high school participated in the program, and the school’s mean SAT score increased by more than 70 points.
“There are excellent free resources available, but students often don’t know how to use them strategically,” says Dr. Ihrig. “Our free program teaches students to strategically use Khan Academy, Schoolhouse.world, Bluebook, and the built-in Desmos calculator to reach the SAT benchmarks.”
For students aiming for higher levels, Growth Mindset Collaborative has introduced an affordable paid version that includes additional independent practice for students.
“Paid PSAT/SAT prep can be expensive, creating another potential barrier for families already facing financial constraints. Other self-paced online versions range in price from $297 to over $1,000 for one year of access. Our paid version is less than $100 and gives students three years of access,” Dr. Ihrig explains.
Perhaps the best aspect of Growth Mindset Collaborative’s test prep initiative is the partnership program.
“I love our partnership program. Right now, I am still a full-time teacher who is trying to encourage as many students as I can as they pursue their dreams. Our partnership program allows schools, districts, churches, public libraries, and other youth-focused nonprofits to share our free and paid programs with their communities while receiving money back from the sale of our paid versions to support their youth-focused initiatives,” shares Dr. Ihrig.
Nonprofits can participate in Growth Mindset Collaborative’s partnership program at no cost. Through the program, the cost of the paid program is reduced to $79, with $40 from each purchase returned directly to the nonprofit to support youth-focused initiatives. Of the remaining amount, $20 supports Growth Mindset Collaborative’s youth-focused nonprofit initiatives and $19 covers program costs.
“Our nonprofit is mission first,” says Dr. Ihrig. “The goal is to make strong academic resources accessible while creating a simple way for other nonprofits to support the young people in their own communities. I may be one teacher working out of her home office at the end of a long school day, but with the help of our nonprofit partners, I can help so many more young people believe in themselves as they pursue their dreams.”
