Dr. Alveda King, nationally recognized Christian author, educator and advocate will serve as keynote speaker at the Dayspring Bible College Inaugural Gala on October 22, 2026, at Royal Melbourne Country Club in Long Grove, Illinois.

LONG GROVE, Ill., Aug. 27, 2026 /Standard Newswire/ — Dayspring Bible College is pleased to announce that Dr. Alveda King, nationally recognized Christian author, educator, civil-rights advocate, and niece of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will serve as the keynote speaker for the College’s Inaugural Gala on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at the Royal Melbourne Country Club in Long Grove, Illinois.

Dr. King’s appearance comes at an exciting and pivotal time for Dayspring Bible College as the College moves toward completion of Phase One of its new campus. Through the generosity of supporters and the recent sale of its existing campus in Mundelein, Illinois, Dayspring has now raised $6.7 million toward its $8 million Phase One funding goal.

Only $1.3 million remains to fully fund Phase One.

The October 22 Gala will serve as a major fundraising event as Dayspring Bible College seeks to raise the remaining $1.3 million needed to complete Phase One of its new Long Grove campus.

“We are tremendously honored to have Dr. Alveda King join us for our Inaugural Gala,” said Pastor Jim Scudder, President of Dayspring Bible College. “Dr. King brings a remarkable testimony of faith, perseverance, leadership, and service. Her life and ministry reflect the importance of standing firmly for truth while investing in the next generation. We believe her message will be both inspiring and challenging to everyone who attends.”

A Remarkable Legacy of Faith and Leadership

Dr. Alveda King is the daughter of the late civil-rights leader Rev. A.D. King and the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. She is a Christian author, former college professor, former Georgia state legislator, and former presidential appointee. Her ministry is devoted to proclaiming the value of human life and the importance of faith in public life.

Dr. King is the author of King Rules and We’re Not Colorblind and has appeared extensively in national media. She is also the founder of Speak for Life and has received numerous honors, including the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award and the Cardinal John O’Connor Pro-Life Hall of Fame Award.

Her unique family heritage and decades of Christian ministry have given her a national platform from which she encourages Americans to pursue faith, freedom, justice, and the protection of human life.

“Dayspring Bible College is preparing young men and women to carry biblical truth into the next generation,” said Scudder. “That mission could not be more important. We are excited to have Dr. King help us celebrate what God has already done and challenge us to consider what He can accomplish through the students who will one day walk the halls of this campus.”

The Miracle Building

The Gala will also tell the continuing story of Dayspring Bible College’s new home, known as the “Miracle Building.”

The remarkable 120,000-square-foot facility on 32 scenic acres in Long Grove was generously donated to Dayspring Bible College by Hobby Lobby. The College is transforming the property into a permanent campus for biblical higher education.

Phase One of the $8 million renovation will prepare the campus to welcome students and includes residence dormitories, lecture halls, a library, administrative offices, and a cafeteria.

Dayspring recently sold its existing Mundelein campus for $4 million, contributing significantly to the College’s progress toward its Phase One goal.

“We have seen God’s hand throughout this entire journey,” Scudder said. “From the gift of this extraordinary property to the sale of our existing campus and the generosity of our supporters, God has provided again and again. Now we have only $1.3 million remaining. We believe the October Gala can be a defining moment as we seek to complete Phase One.”

Help Us Finish Phase One

Dayspring Bible College is inviting churches, Christian business leaders, foundations, families, and individuals to attend the October 22 Gala and become part of this historic project.

Table sponsorships are especially encouraged. Sponsoring a table provides an opportunity to bring friends, family, business associates, church leaders, and ministry partners together for an evening celebrating God’s faithfulness and investing in the future of biblical education.

The College is also offering a limited number of Founders’ Naming Opportunities throughout the new campus. Donors can honor family members, loved ones, churches, ministries, or businesses while making a lasting investment in the training of future Christian leaders.

“We are asking our friends and supporters to help us reach the final $1.3 million,” said Scudder. “Every gift brings us closer to opening this campus and fulfilling the vision God has given us. We want October 22 to be more than a Gala—it should be a celebration of God’s provision and a defining moment for the future of Dayspring Bible College.”
