ATLANTA, Aug. 6, 2026 /Standard Newswire/ — Intelligence documents declassified yesterday show the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) opened an investigation of President Trump in 2017 on grounds he was a Russian asset despite knowing that was untrue. The investigation named OXFERD COMMA was opened on May 16, 2017 in apparent retaliation against President Trump for firing FBI Director James Comey a week earlier on May 9, 2017. Comey “violated long-standing…practice and protocol” in handling the Hillary Clinton email case.

The opening communication that initiated the scheme was based mostly on hearsay, public comments and speculation. It was approved by James Baker and William Priestap and stated:

“The FBI is opening a full investigation based on an articulable factual basis that reasonably indicates that President Donald J. Trump may be or has been, wittingly or unwittingly, involved in activities for or on behalf of the Government of the Russian Federation which may constitute violations of federal criminal law or threats to the national security of the United States,”

The next day acting director Andrew McCabe notified Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. On the same day, May 17, 2017, Rosenstein immediately initiated a special counsel investigation to be led by Robert Mueller. That massive, multi-million-dollar, two-year investigation was closed on April 8, 2019 with no charges filed.

The documents show the scheme against the President was initiated based on the FBI’s infamous Crossfire Hurricane investigation that relied on the discredited Steele Dossier funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign. A subsequent investigation conducted by John Durham and released by the Biden Justice Department in 2023, concluded the FBI had no basis to open Crossfire Hurricane. That finding is corroborated by several internal FBI communications.

Previous intelligence declassifications released by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard in July 2025 confirm the FBI schemes as the “Russian hoax”. They also show CIA Director John Brennan changed an Intelligence Community Assessment in December 2016 to promote the hoax over objections from some career intelligence staffers.

VoterGA co-founder Garland Favorito added:

“These are more disturbing examples of how our intelligence agencies tried to subvert the will of the American people who elected President Trump.”
