WASHINGTON, Aug. 24, 2026 /Standard Newswire/ — “Creator of the Universe,” written by former Air Force Chaplain Captain James F. Linzey, has received further recognition within the military community after the Central Florida Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) featured the composition on its official website as the United States Space Force Hymn.

The MOAA chapter has placed “US Space Force Song” (“Creator of the Universe”) in the “Services” section of its website alongside the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard service songs. On the Space Force page, under the heading “United States Space Force – Service Song,” the organization states: “Creator of the Universe is the Space Force Hymn. It was written by Dr. James F. Linzey.”

The recognition represents another milestone in the reception of “Creator of the Universe” as the official Space Force Hymn among military officers, chaplains and veterans.

Former Chaplain, Captain Jim Linzey

Linzey has longstanding ties to the Military Officers Association of America community. He served for five years as chaplain of the California Military Officers Association of America (CALMOAA) and as chaplain of its Escondido, California, chapter, following the death of his father, Captain Stanford E. Linzey, CHC, USN (Ret.), who had previously served as the chapter’s chaplain.

The MOAA Central Florida Chapter also published an endorsement from retired Air Force Chaplain Major Michael R. O’Donnell, former Acting Wing Chaplain at Norton Air Force Base, California.

“The Space Force Hymn, ‘Creator of the Universe,’ captures both the awe of the heavens and the humility of those who serve beneath them,” O’Donnell said. “It speaks to the mystery of exploration, the courage of duty, and the enduring majesty of God.”

The development follows recent recognition by the Military Chaplains Association of the United States of America, which featured the hymn in its July 29 Weekly News Digest following Linzey’s June 18 performance at McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas.

At McConnell AFB, Linzey presented the hymn to chapel personnel and was invited to perform it in the chapel sanctuary before Air Force chaplains, religious affairs personnel and a chaplain candidate.

Linzey wrote “Creator of the Universe” in 2020 following the establishment of the United States Space Force. The sacred hymn invokes God’s guidance and protection over Guardians serving in the space domain and continues the historic tradition of sacred hymns associated with America’s Armed Forces.

The hymn has also received official endorsements from former Space Force Chief of Chaplains and former Air Force Chief of Chaplains Chaplain (Major General) Steven A. Schaick and former Air Force Deputy Chief of Chaplains Brigadier General Ronald M. Harvell, USAF (Ret.).

Bruce A. Oliver, D.D., of the Southern Baptist Convention and host of “Talks for Christ,” wrote in the MOAA chapter feature that the official Space Force Hymn may be Linzey’s greatest achievement for the Department of the United States Air Force.

Linzey served 24 years in the United States Air Force and United States Army, including service associated with Air Force Space Command. Beyond his military legacy, Linzey is an accomplished vocalist who actively performs across both sacred and secular genres. Most recently, he performed a secular concert at the Celebrity Center International in Hollywood on August 22, 2026, delivering a diverse repertoire that featured arrangements of Al Martino’s “Spanish Eyes,” Tom Jones’ “Green, Green Grass of Home,” and Elvis Presley’s rendition of the Gospel classic, “Help Me.” Following the success of the performance, Linzey has been invited to return to the Hollywood stage in September. The MOAA chapter’s placement of “Creator of the Universe” alongside the service songs of America’s other military branches adds another prominent military-community recognition of the hymn and its place within the developing heritage of the nation’s newest Armed Force.
