CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., Aug. 25, 2026 /Standard Newswire/ — As governments criminalize faith-based counseling around the world, one documentary stands alone in telling the other side of the story. FREEDOM, written and executive produced by Wayne Blakely, is the only American-made feature-length documentary examining conversion therapy bans from a Christian and redemptive perspective.
Blakely spent nearly 40 years in the LGBTQ community before returning to faith in 2009 and founding Know His Love Ministries — giving him a perspective no outside observer can match. FREEDOM exposes the myths surrounding conversion therapy, documents what Christian counselors actually do, and presents powerful testimonies of transformation — making the case that counseling choice is a fundamental human right.
Voluntary faith-based counseling is now criminal in 23 U.S. states and 31 regions worldwide. In Victoria, Australia, praying for someone who identifies as LGBTQ is punishable by 8-10 years in prison. On March 31, 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 8-1 in Chiles v. Salazar, striking down Colorado’s conversion therapy ban as unconstitutional — only for Colorado to respond the same day with HB26-1322, a bill creating unlimited civil liability for counselors with no statute of limitations, effective August 12, 2026.
FREEDOM also documents the case of Matthew Grech of Malta — the first person ever criminally prosecuted under a conversion therapy ban anywhere in the world — and contains the only American documentary footage of his case. He was fully acquitted March 4, 2026.
With religious freedom under assault in courtrooms, legislatures and churches alike, FREEDOM arrives at precisely the moment the church can no longer afford silence.
