HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Aug. 21, 2026 /Standard Newswire/ — Highly respected academic, legendary recording artist, and composer Jim Linzey—known as “The Singing Major,” and in the academic field as James F. Linzey—is set to take the stage in the heart of Hollywood for a captivating, high-energy performance. Linzey will be a featured performer at “Heart & Soul: The Concert,” scheduled for Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the iconic Celebrity Centre International, located at 5930 Franklin Ave. (Corner of Bronson Ave.) in Hollywood, California.
Billed as “A Night of Unforgettable Music and Energy,” the concert brings together a dynamic lineup of talent, with Linzey taking center stage to deliver the powerful vocal performances that have defined his multi-faceted career in both the secular entertainment industry and sacred music circles.

Linzey’s appearance marks a major milestone in a career rooted in Southern California’s rich musical history. Thirty years ago, in 1996, Linzey recorded his critically acclaimed second CD, Narrow Road, right here in Hollywood. The groundbreaking album propelled him into the national spotlight. His recording and revision of ‘A Heart of Love,’ originally written by his brother Paul and included on his first album, You Were Always There, placed him in the final running for the prestigious 1996 Dove Awards. That same era saw Linzey expand his creative reach into cinema, starring in the feature film Iniquity, a project that showcased his dramatic talents alongside his musical prowess.
“There is an undeniable energy in Hollywood that always inspires me,” noted Linzey. “Exactly 30 years after recording my album Narrow Road here, I am thrilled to return to this iconic creative hub and pour my heart and soul into Saturday’s performance.”
Beyond his success in commercial recording and film, Linzey holds a unique and historic distinction in American music history. He is the only living author of an official military hymn, having penned the majestic official United States Space Force Hymn, “Creator of the Universe.” A prolific composer of sacred patriotic anthems, he also authored the official United States Army Hymn, “Eternal Father, Hear Our Prayer.” These landmark compositions seamlessly bridge the gap between secular cultural achievement and profound spiritual expression, earning him widespread respect from military bands, civilian choirs, and audiences worldwide.
Linzey’s musical pedigree runs deep. Besides his solo success and military chaplaincy career, he was a member of the acclaimed Southern Gospel duo, The Linzeys, which featured his mother, Verna Linzey, as the lead singer. They shared the stage with Jimmie Rodgers, Pat Boone, Kathie Lee Gifford, Gavin MacLeod, the 5th Dimension’s Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr., and recorded with Triumphant Quartet on Verna’s solo album, O Blessed Jesus. In a beautiful convergence of singing and acting, Verna Linzey also made a memorable cameo appearance in the movie Iniquity and sang “The Rose” by Bette Midler for the soundtrack.
“Heart & Soul: The Concert” is produced by Alfredo M. Yumul, CEO, Founder, and Executive Producer of the AmerAsia International Awards, alongside Executive Producer Dr. Keiko Tanaka of The Global Covenant Christian Church Inc. Musical direction will be provided by Alex Lagman and his Band.
