WASHINGTON, Sept. 23, 2026 /Standard Newswire/ — The demonstration will be on Thursday, September 24 at 1:00 PM.
The address of the Chinese Embassy is: 3505 International Place NW, Washington, DC 20008.
Activists will be calling for human rights and freedom in China with a special focus on ending Christian persecution and releasing Christians who are being imprisoned for their faith right now.
The group will also be honoring and remembering the students who were murdered by the Chinese Communist Party during the Tiananmen Square Massacre.
Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, states:
“We cannot be silent as the Chinese government tramples public expressions of faith and crushes free speech by removing hundreds of crosses from public buildings, destroying churches and imprisoning pastors.
“China has also committed genocide against the Uyghurs, oppressed Hong Kong and violently oppresses human rights for the people of China.
“We call upon President Xi to end the brutal persecution of his own people and would allow the citizens of China to live freely and openly.
“We are going to the Chinese Embassy because it is important there is a clear public voice speaking out against the Chinese government’s abuse of human rights while President Xi is in Washington, DC.
“We echo the words of Holocaust Survivor and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Elie Wiesel, as he says: ‘We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.’”
Rev. Patrick Mahoney has been an outspoken critic of the human rights abuses in China for over 40 years. In 2008, he was involved in an effort to boycott the Beijing Summer Olympics and was arrested in Tiananmen Square during the Olympics, speaking out for human rights. He and two other activists were threatened with six months in prison. Rev. Mahoney also worked with Hong Kong student democracy leaders during the massive protests there in 2019. He is currently banned from China.
