ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 29, 2026 /Standard Newswire/ — Anglican Watch, the unofficial watchdog of the Episcopal Church, today issued an open letter to the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama, calling on the Diocese to stand with victims of alleged child sexual abuse and rape. The move follows repeated refusals of the Diocese under Bishop Glenda Curry to advance a clergy disciplinary case against a priest indicted for child sexual abuse.

“It is never too late to do right,” says Anglican Watch official Eric Bonetti. “We therefore call on Bishop-Elect The Very Rev. Richard T. Lawson III to act with integrity and, immediately upon taking office, begin clergy disciplinary proceedings against the priest in question.”

The full letter, including specific allegations in this matter, are available at www.anglicanwatch.com/.

Founded in 2015, Anglican Watch is the unofficial watchdog of the Episcopal Church. The organization addresses sexual and non-sexual abuse in the Episcopal Church and other faith communities.
