WORCESTER, Mass., May 1, 2026 /Standard Newswire/ — The Catholic Advanced Practice Provider Association (CAPPA) recently marked its one-year anniversary, highlighting a year of growth and engagement among healthcare professionals seeking to integrate their Catholic faith with their clinical practice.
CAPPA is a national organization supporting physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other health care clinicians committed to aligning their work with Catholic teaching. Since launching its website and public engagement in January 2025, CAPPA has grown to nearly 200 members across the United States.
Led by founding President Kristine Correira, CAPPA’s mission is to provide community, education, and advocacy for clinicians and students striving to practice medicine in accordance with the Catholic Faith. “I was overwhelmed by the incredible response after launching the website,” President Correira explained. She keeps CAPPA focused on Catholic medical ethics education and advocating for policies that uphold the dignity of human life and religious freedom in medical training and practice. “We face a rising threat to these crucial values necessary for people and societies to flourish,” she said. “CAPPA hopes to join its voice to other Catholic health care organizations in restoring these values.”
In its first year, CAPPA held two well-attended meet-and-greet sessions, initiated an ongoing monthly Rosary, began its Anima Medicinae blog, and hosted two webinars: Understanding POLST presented by President Correira, and Celebrating the Gospel of Life presented by Sr. Luca Benedict, SV.
In its second year, CAPPA is planning a discussion club based on articles from clinical and bioethics journals, major Church documents addressing medical ethics, and Supreme Court cases impacting faith-based clinical practice. CAPPA will also continue offering bioethics and spiritual webinars, the Anima Medicinae, and its monthly Rosary.
