TAYBEH, WEST BANK, Sept. 15, 2026 /Standard Newswire/ — The Vulnerable People Project (VPP) is urging Christians to support its “I Heart Taybeh” T-shirt campaign as settler violence and mounting pressure threaten the historic Christian community’s future. The campaign supports renovation of the kindergarten at Taybeh’s Latin Patriarchate School while encouraging Christians abroad to speak out for families struggling to remain in their ancestral homes.
Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, visited Taybeh on August 14, celebrating Mass for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and reaffirming the Church’s commitment to preserving the Christian presence in the Holy Land. His visit took place amid severe restrictions on access to the village.
Fr. Bashar Fawadleh, Taybeh’s parish priest, has described repeated incursions, destruction of farmland, attacks on private property, and pressure on families to abandon their homes. In an August 10 interview with Vatican News, he appealed for international attention and practical support.
“Do not forget Taybeh,” Fr. Bashar said. “I invite every Catholic diocese worldwide to speak out about the situation here.”
VPP is calling on Christians to answer that appeal by supporting the village’s children and making Taybeh’s situation known in their own parishes and communities in the U.S. Wearing the campaign’s shirt gives supporters an opportunity to explain the threats facing the village and encourage others to help preserve its Christian life.
The campaign will fund a kindergarten renovation that includes a safer outdoor playground, new flooring, and improvements to classrooms, electrical systems, and lighting. The project is intended to help families build a future in Taybeh despite the insecurity and economic pressures driving residents away.
Supporters who donate $50 or more can request an “I Heart Taybeh” T-shirt as a thank-you gift. Shirts are available in sizes S–2XL, with free shipping within the U.S.
VPP is also urging churches and public officials to speak out against attacks on civilians and support the right of Taybeh’s families to live, work, and worship in safety. Preserving the Christian presence in the Holy Land requires practical assistance and sustained international attention to the communities whose future is at risk.
