Terri Schiavo's Brother Responds to Attack from Former Republican Congressman

Sept. 13, 2021

WASHINGTON, Sept. 13, 2021 /Standard Newswire/ -- On September 5th, CNN published an op-ed by former Republican Congressman Charlie Dent titled "The GOP's Texas-sized mistake on abortion" regarding the passage of the Texas heartbeat law. In the article, Mr. Dent incorrectly referred to Terri Schiavo as "brain dead", and he also compared the Texas heartbeat legislation and the efforts to get it passed to a bill that was passed by Congress in the Schiavo case.

Bobby Schindler, Terri Schiavo's brother and President of the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network responded to Mr. Dent in a letter writing in part, "You clearly disagreed with the actions of Congress, who were responding to Terri's family pleas for help, but twisting my sister's medical condition to bolster your anti-life position speaks to your character and integrity as it sets out to deliberately deceive the reader. Moreover, it is equally disgraceful to judge her issue based on political gain, rather than what is right or wrong."
