What: The next CSI frontier - the human mind -- is about to take front and center stage at the upcoming conference "Off the Witness Stand: Using Psychology in the Practice of Justice" sponsored by John Jay College of Criminal Justice. This 3-day conference will delve into the roles of the psyche in the legal system.
Seminars will be held that focus on the latest studies on alibi research, eyewitness identification, confessions, contemporary jury issues, perceptions of juvenile and child witnesses, sex offender legislation, among others will be explored.
Sponsored by the College's Center on Modern Forensic Practice and the Department of Psychology, this conference commemorates the 100th Anniversary of "On the Witness Stand." This seminal book of Hugo Munsterberg, father of forensic psychology, rattled the gates of the criminal justice system, and announced that the social sciences wanted in.
