SAN DIEGO, April 15, 2015 /Standard Newswire/ -- H.H. Laughlin was an American scientist and activist for Progressive causes. He collaborated with the Nazi scientists in their crusade to breed a "master race." Yet, no one has ever published a book on him.
The Carnegie Institution of Washington, D.C. gave A.E. Samaan permission to survey the internal correspondence on Dr. Laughlin. These documents have not been seen for decades. They provide evidence that:
- The Nazis translated Laughlin's "Model Eugenical Law" into the Nuremberg decrees that led to The Holocaust.
- He used his influence to defend the Nuremberg decrees as "scientifically" sound in order to dispel mounting international criticism.
- He was the "expert" witness for the U.S. Congress for the passing of the 1924 Immigration Restriction Act. This Act would prevent many Jewish refugees from reaching the safety of U.S. shores.
- He provided the "scientific" basis for the 1927 Buck v. Bell Supreme Court case. This paved the way for 80,000 Americans to be sterilized against their will.
- He gave aid and support to Margaret Sanger's Birth Control movement.
- He created the political organization that would be instrumental in the Jim Crow era of legislative racism.
- Hitler's government gave Dr. Laughlin an honorary degree from Heidelberg University for his work on eugenics.
A.E. Samaan's book traces how the Carnegie leadership came to the realization that its scientist was supporting Hitler's regime. The documentation uncovered evidence just how strange it is for Dr. Laughlin to have been swept under the rug by American academia. Dr. Laughlin had too much influence on world events to simply have been forgotten. Did Dr. Laughlin's ties to Progressive-minded institutions save him from infamy after The Holocaust?
