HOUSTON, Aug. 14, 2019 /Standard Newswire/ -- The College of Biblical Studies, a nondenominational, nonprofit 4-year college has just announced Dr. J. Paul Nyquist, former president of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, has been named the vice president of discipleship and special assistant to the president, with his office located at the corporate headquarters in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Nyquist will lead the academic and administrative functions of the CBS discipleship initiative in supporting the spiritual growth of staff, faculty, and students. As a senior member of the president's team, Dr. Nyquist will also provide advice and counsel to executive leadership.

Dr. Nyquist most recently served as professor and dean of graduate programs at The Bible Seminary in Katy, Texas. Prior to 2019, he served as president of Moody Bible Institute for eight years. Dr. Nyquist is also a noted speaker, author, and former pastor. Other experience includes president and CEO of Avant Ministries, senior pastor, international missions, and professor. His publications include "Is Justice Possible?", "The Elusive Pursuit of What is Right", "Prepare: Living Your Faith in an Increasingly Hostile World", "The Post-Church Christian", and "There is NO Time".
Dr. Nyquist holds a Ph.D. and a Th.M. in Systematic Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. He also holds a B.S. in Architecture Studies from the University of Nebraska.
