VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., June 3, 2024 /Standard Newswire/ -- Former Republican state legislator Tim Anderson he says his party’s loss of power rests squarely on one tactical error: Republicans are talking about abortion all wrong.
The pro-life party is failing to save the lives of the unborn by driving a message about restrictions and bans. This does nothing but spin outrage among democrats, which translates directly to fundraising and winning elections on this one issue.
In an opinion piece published by the Washington Post today, Anderson calls for his party to “Abandon the philosophy of telling women they can’t have an an abortion” and instead focus on the reasons women choose abortions, and champion the life saving solutions that could actually garner bipartisan support- such as tax credits for companies that offer child care and helping mothers get trained and high demand fields- two measures that were killed by his own party when Anderson was in office.
“Republicans will continue to lose in swing states and districts across this nation if we don’t change the way we talk about abortion. Talking about bans isn’t saving any lives and it is costing us elections across this nation”
