FRC Announces Campaign to Call Every Louisiana Household, Urging Opposition to Health Care Takeover

Contact: J.P. Duffy or Maria Donovan, 866-FRC-NEWS

WASHINGTON, Dec. 4 /Standard Newswire/ -- As Congress prepares to vote on a health care overhaul plan, Family Research Council (FRC) today announced an eight week campaign to call all household phones in Louisiana to survey each household on provisions of the Senate health care bill. These include abortion funding, rationing, higher taxes, and government-run health care, or the public option. Survey participants who express opposition to the so-called health care reform will be given contact information for the office of Senator Mary Landrieu. The full survey results will be released at a later date.

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins released the following statement:

"Senator Mary Landrieu continues to waver between the arm twisting party bosses in Washington and her constituents who overwhelmingly oppose this government takeover of health care. The preliminary early results of our phone call campaign indicate that Senator Landrieu should take seriously the intense opposition that her constituents have to abortion funding, rationing, and higher taxes within the Senate health care bill."

This survey effort will identify families across the state that are in opposition to this massive expansion of government and compile that information for use in this and other public policy efforts.

The following is a partial script of the phone call:

"National health care changes being pushed by President Obama, Senator Reid, and Speaker
would institute rationing of medical care by an unelected board that can reject surgeries,
drugs, or therapies which you or your loved ones may need. There are also great concerns
about euthanasia. Do such documented facts make you want to stop changes to our health care system?"
