MANASSAS, Va., May 13, 2011 /Standard Newswire/ -- Three conservative and Tea Party leaders have issued a joint statement endorsing Phil Moffett for Governor of Kentucky in the Republican Primary on Tuesday, May 17.

The statement says:

"We urge all movement conservatives in the Bluegrass State to strongly support Phil Moffett.

"The 2009 and 2010 elections brought many significant victories to candidates who believe in the constitutional values of limited government and fiscal responsibility. The 2011 elections will provide voters in Kentucky an opportunity to add Phil Moffett to these ranks.

"Moffett has been endorsed by all three major Tea Party organizations in Kentucky and dozens of local Tea Party groups, the Northern Kentucky Right to Life, the oldest and largest state pro-life group, and Kentuckians for the Right to Bear Arms, an affiliate of Gun Owners of America.

"Moffett's principal primary opponent, David Williams, is the president of the State Senate, and is an establishment politician. He refused to sign Americans for Tax Reform's Taxpayer Protection Pledge and voted to add $1 billion in debt in each of the last three years. As Senate President, Williams is responsible for adding $40 billion in state debt ($10 billion in bonded indebtedness and $30 billion in unfunded liabilities).

"Moffett will break up the insiders' network in state government. He won't go along to get along. He will fight for ordinary citizens against the career politicians who are responsible for the enormous increases in state debt.

"We believe that, if elected, Phil Moffett would become a national leader in the fight for smaller government and less taxes. His influence will be felt far beyond the boundaries of Kentucky."

The persons who signed the statement in their individual capacities include: Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman, ConservativeHQ.com; Craig Shirley, Reagan biographer; and Judson Phillips, Founder, Tea Party Nation.
