Truth for Catholics - 5 Points

NEWS PROVIDED BY

Oct. 24, 2023

WASHINGTON, Penn., Oct. 24, 2023 /Standard Newswire/ -- The following is submitted by Dan Corner of Evangelical Outreach:

    1. Roman Catholics are taught they are 'born again' at infant baptism, but are not. The truth is, one gets Biblically born again only when he turns away from his sins and places his faith in the Lord Jesus to follow him (Acts 20:21; 1 Thess. 1:9b; Lk. 9:23; 8:21; Mt. 7:21; etc.). The concept of infant baptism is different and is not found anywhere in the Bible. It is also one of the glaring errors in Catholicism.

    2. Roman Catholics also think they "receive Christ" when they partake of the communion wafer (Eucharist). This Catholic deception is the result of the idea that the communion elements (bread and wine) have been transubstantiated by the priest into the literal body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ. This has also led them into the 'worship' of the consecrated communion wafer, as one would worship God himself. Hence, the fruit of this is also idolatry. See Rev. 21:8.

The truth is: one receives Christ when he believes on his name (John 1:12). This is another way of saying that occurs when one turns from his idols to serve the true and living God (1 Thess. 1:9b; Acts 20:31; etc.). No one receives Christ in his mouth, then swallows him to be digested, to later be excreted from the body and flushed away. A genuine change in substance of the communion elements would result in a change in 'taste,' as the water changed into wine tasted like wine (Jn. 2), but that is lacking in their Eucharist.

    3. Roman Catholics wrongly think their church system was founded by Jesus on Peter the first pope. The superiority the Roman Catholic Church claims for itself comes from this fallacious concept, which has led people into increasing error.

Regarding Mt. 16:18, the Amplified Bible says:

I tell you that you are Peter [Petros, masculine, a large piece of rock], and on this rock [petra, feminine, a huge rock like Gibraltar] I will build My church....

Peter is "a large piece of rock," but the church is built on petra which means "a huge rock like Gibraltar"! Peter is also masculine gender and not feminine gender, as petra is.

The misuse of that verse has led people to wrongly believe that the church was built on St. Peter, who was supposed to have been the visible head of the church and the first Pope. From that came 'apostolic succession' leading to many popes, who have taught various erroneous things. For example, popes have taught Mary has a role in salvation. Hence, such a wrong belief about Peter from Mt. 16:18 has led to other false ideas and doctrines regarding how one finds salvation.

After Jesus spoke Mt. 16:18, Peter was not recognized as the chief Apostle among the Twelve. Mk. 8:29 is the parallel account to Mt. 16:18. Less than one full chapter later, the disciples were arguing which of them was the greatest (Mk. 9:34). Hence, they didn't understand Peter to be the chief. See also Acts 15 where Peter did not preside over the Jerusalem church council.

The false supremacy of the Roman Catholic church has even led to marriage annulments and that in turn has led to remarriage adultery (Rom. 7:2,3).

    4. Roman Catholic errors extend to declaring Mary is their 'life, sweetness and hope' when they recite the Rosary, which they say is the 'epitome of the whole gospel.' The idea that Mary could possibly be our life, sweetness and hope is impossible, according to the pages of the New Testament, since Jesus is those things and much more. Catholicism has erected a false Mary, and now many think she has a primary role in people's salvation.

For one to become Biblically saved, he will have to place all 100% of his faith (a submissive faith) and trust in the Lord Jesus or he will be lost. This means you cannot trust in being a Catholic, the sacraments and/or Mary along with the Lord Jesus. You must trust in Jesus alone (100%). That also implies a turning away from your sins to live holy.

Had Jesus wanted to exalt Mary the perfect time was at Luke 11:27,28, but he didn't (while just the opposite occurred). However, who Jesus did exalt as the greatest was John the Baptist (Mt. 11:11). Moreover, had the Lord's apostles wanted to exalt Mary they surely would have done it as they wrote about prayer, salvation, redemption, receiving grace, protection, the devil, etc., but they never did. In fact, Peter never mentioned Mary in any of his salvation teachings or in his two books. These are the real facts about Mary's importance.

    5. Catholics who read and believe the 'approved' Fatima Visions of 1917 are dangerously thinking that Mary is our "refuge" and "the way" that will lead us to God, and they seem unaware that the devil can be the source of visions (2 Cor. 11:14).

Only God knows how many sincere people have been misled by the fabricated Catholic 'Our Lady of Fatima.' Catholicism has people looking to Mary for their refuge and the way to God. A Catholic deception of that magnitude is a sure way to miss God's paradise kingdom and to end up in eternal fire. God is our refuge and Jesus is the only way to God (Psa. 16:1; John 14:6; etc.). To depart from scripture will lead to lethal deception. The Bible is final authority (2 Tim. 3:16,17).
