DODGE CITY, Kan., Jan. 6, 2020 /Standard Newswire/ -- The Dodge City Ministerial Alliances is pleased to announce that Dodge Chapel will open to the public on January 15th, 2020. The Dodge Chapel is Located at 110 Gunsmoke Street in Dodge City, Kansas.
"This is the first dedicated prayer chapel open to everyone in the history of Dodge City," said Reilly O'Gara, interim director of the Ministerial Alliance. "To have a space devoted to prayer on the corner where the city started is just tremendous."
Uriel Vital, a recent graduate of Dodge City High School remodeled the space. Vital owns Sparky Home Improvement, LLC. He said he was grateful to work on such an important project and credits his high school trades teacher, Nathan Gaswick, for teaching him how to develop his natural abilities.
Reilly O'Gara writes:
"We're thrilled with how the Dodge Chapel turned out. Uriel did a fantastic job. It was the old office for the Dodge Theater. It became a military recruitment center for two wars, housed a jewelry store at one time, and has been used as storage for years. The place looked like it had been through two wars. We're thankful to the Dodge Theater Foundation for supporting the re-purposing of the space.
"The owner of the building insisted that everything be done true to the historic character of the building. For example, the chandelier was sourced from Spain. Only wood furnishings are allowed. There are limitations on the size of furnishings too. So we have very specific needs for the Chapel."
The Dodge Chapel will include legacy prayer kneelers, cushioned benches, a/v equipment, end tables, a rug, and a sidewall chest for serving coffee and displaying Christian literature, books, and information about churches in Dodge City.
Rev. CJ Conner, author and local missionary said, "The place looks amazing. I hope the Christians get good use out of the Chapel. I'm told chairs or no chairs the door will be open come January 15th."
Donations are still needed to furnish the Chapel.
The Dodge City Ministerial Alliance launched a fundraiser to raise $7,000 for the effort. You can visit their website to find out more about Dodge Chapel and see before and after the rehabilitation.
