GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas, Nov. 27, 2012 /Standard Newswire/ -- Surviving a Zombie Apocalypse is a popular theme for TV, movies, video games, and even CDC and FEMA training exercises. Even though Zombies may not be real, the importance of Emergency Preparedness training is critical for every person and community. Taking the stance that emergency preparedness doesn't have to be difficult, Prep2Bless wants to help North Texans to get started. This free Emergency Prep Training will be December 1 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Shady Grove Church in Grand Prairie. "It is our goal to help families have a plan and be able to survive for three days without electricity or cell phones," explains Prep2Bless Organizer, Lynn Scarborough.
A February survey published by Persuadable Research Corporation found that the majority of Americans acknowledge that they are unprepared for disaster because of lack of awareness and expense. Additionally, others people are overwhelmed with too many options, lists and fear-based approach of reality shows, such as Doomsday Preppers.
"We found people, even though they knew an Emergency Plan was important, had stalled out because the process seemed too complicated and depressing," states Scarborough. "We developed the Five Steps of Basic Prep to demonstrate that Prepping doesn't have to be complicated, expensive, time consuming or fear-based."
The goal of Prep2Bless is to equip others with the training and skills, so that in times of disaster, they can take care of their families first and then be able to help and bless others. Scarborough adds. "We may joke about surviving a zombie apocalypse; however if all the Starbucks closed, some people might start acting like zombies, so it's best to be prepared," explains Scarborough.
On Dec. 1st, Prep2Bless will have over 14 workshops, demos and 40 tables with experts from FEMA, Red Cross, World Vision, Salvation Army, Emergency Preparedness Managers from Grand Prairie and Dallas, Police and Fire departments.
