Donohue Bid for Weiner Probe Granted

Contact:  Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, 212-371-3191, pr@catholicleague.org

NEW YORK, Sept. 1, 2016 /Standard Newswire/ -- Bill Donohue comments on his formal complaint against Anthony Weiner for suspected child abuse:

Yesterday, I filed a complaint with the New York City branch of the New York State Administration for Children's Services (ACS) requesting an investigation of Anthony Weiner for possible child abuse. I am happy to say that it appears my request has been granted.

The New York Post, which deserves much credit for breaking this story, cited my bid to have ACS investigate this matter. "Donohue's complaint lists both Weiner and [Huma] Abedin, who declined comment," the news story says.

The Daily Mail contacted ACS about this matter and was told by a spokesman that it had to follow the policy of non-disclosure; in the interest of protecting the child, it does not comment on such investigations. The British daily then said the following:

"It came after Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, urged the New York State Office of Children and Family Services to investigate Weiner for sexually exploiting his young son." The news story then explained my reasoning.

This case is now in the hands of ACS. I have no reason to doubt that it will do its duty and seek justice in this matter. Please keep the four-year-old boy, Jordan Weiner, in your prayers.
