DENVER, May 2 /Standard Newswire/ -- With unanimous consent, the Rocky Mountain District Council of the Assemblies of God passed a resolution endorsing the Colorado for Equal Rights Personhood effort. The Rocky Mountain District of the Assemblies of God has 119 churches in Colorado.
Former District Council President Bob Cook boosted the campaign in its infancy with his personal endorsement.
The approved resolution reads: "...be it RESOLVED, That the Rocky Mountain District Council of the Assemblies of God endorse the current proposed amendment sponsored by Colorado for Equal Rights to the Constitution of the State of Colorado, and be it further RESOLVED, That the Rocky Mountain District Council of the Assemblies of God openly invites all other Christian churches and ministries to endorse the petition drive and campaign to pass this pro-life amendment."
"We at Colorado for Equal Rights are so thankful for the commitment and leadership to the sanctity of life that the Assemblies of God have shown with this resolution," said Kristi Burton, spokesperson for the Colorado for Equal Rights campaign. "Our prayer is that others will follow this model of leadership and support personhood as strongly as the Rocky Mountain District Council of the Assemblies of God."
Colorado for Equal Rights is a statewide grassroots organization of committed pro-life activists. Colorado for Equal Rights is sponsoring the Human Life Amendment to the Colorado Constitution, stating "(t)he term "Person" or "Persons" shall include any human from the time of fertilization."
