SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., Nov. 14, 2018 /Standard Newswire/ -- Worldwide Marriage Encounter, the original faith-based marriage enrichment program, recently selected a new United States leadership team. The new United States leadership team is Tony & Sue Morris from Waterloo, IL and Fr. Tom Ogg from Ten Sleep, WY.
"We are very excited that Tony & Sue and Fr. Ogg are leading Worldwide Marriage Encounter's efforts in the United States. They share our vision to renew the Sacraments of Marriage and Holy Orders, and to help assist the Catholic Church in its strong support for marriage and the family," said Joe & Sue Talarico and Fr. Salvador Ahumada, the Worldwide Marriage Encounter North American Secretariat leadership team.
Tony & Sue have been involved in WWME since 1995. They have served as local and regional leaders for Worldwide Marriage Encounter as well as Structure Pillar for the North American Secretariat. Tony is vice president of an IT service company and Sue is a physical therapist. They have been married for 37 years.
Fr. Tom attended the weekend in 1975. He has been a parish priest for 50 years and currently serves in the Diocese of Cheyenne. One of the roles he served in was as the Ecclesial Priest for the North American Secretariat of Worldwide Marriage Encounter. He has also served as the president of the National Conference of Diocesan Vocation Directors.
"We want to find ways to meet couples and priests where they are, providing them with opportunities to enrich their marriage and vocations, offering more one day or evening programs on marriage in parishes." said Tony & Sue and Fr. Tom.
"We would like for WWME to be known as the go to resource for marriage enrichments across the US. We want to continue to provide quality traditional Weekend retreats that support our Mission to proclaim the value of marriage and holy orders in the church and in the world. And, we believe we need to increase our presence on social media allowing couples looking for Marriage Enrichment opportunities to easily find information about a Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend."
Worldwide Marriage Encounter recently celebrated its 50th anniversary and its presence in just under 100 countries makes it the largest pro-marriage movement in the world. In the United States, the movement is divided into regions based on geography and language (English, Spanish and Korean).
Worldwide Marriage Encounter offers married couples the opportunity to spend time together away from the busyness of the world to focus on each other. It offers tools for building and maintaining a strong, Christian marriage in today's world. The weekend is also open to priests so they can focus on their Sacrament of Holy Orders.
