Prominent Black Bishop, President of S.T.A.N.D., (Staying True to America's National Destiny) Blasts Gov. Patterson, Liberals and Democrats for Playing the Race Card

Contact: Bishop Jackson, President, 757-410-7740; Natalie Brown, Press Sec., 757-214-9053; both with  S.T.A.N.D., stand@standamerica.us

OPINION, Aug. 25  /Standard Newswire/ -- Bishop E.W. Jackson Sr., former top official in the Christian Coalition, and controversial leader of a new grassroots movement to call America back to its Judeo-Christian roots and unity as one nation under God, has entered the race debate. "Racism exists," says Bishop Jackson, "but we are not a racist country. Liberals are starting to sound like the boy who cried wolf, and we're tired of the charge of racism being used as a sledge hammer against opponents of liberalism."

He has written two scathing articles accusing white liberals of being the true racists and attacking both black and white liberals for constantly playing the race card. "Here is another example of it", says Jackson. "Governor Patterson has shown himself to be incompetent and extremely liberal, but instead of attributing his political problems to his performance or his ideological bias, he plays the race card. It's a familiar gambit, and it is getting old."

Recently Bishop Jackson released an editorial responding to liberal accusations that Americans opposed to Obama-care were just a bunch of "angry white folks and Nazis." In that article entitled, "Stop Playing The Race Card" Jackson said, "The American people are tired of being called racist. We have had it with ivory tower liberals telling us we need to have a 'dialogue' about race. We don't need any more lectures or sensitivity training."

STAND accuses liberals of intentionally dividing Americans by race. "We have had enough of balkanizing us into enclaves of hyphenated Americans," says Bishop Jackson. "This is what happens when we are led by those who believe we are a nation of ethnic groups to be controlled, instead of 'one nation under God with liberty and justice for all.' The unity of our country lies in rejecting race as our identifier. We are all Americans and that should be how we identify ourselves."

Jackson has a message for Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, Gov. Patterson and Prof. Louis Gates and what he calls "the race industry." "There is no such thing as a "typical white person" (quoting Obama's statement about his own grandmother) or a typical black person. We are all people. Nobody is required to like you or agree with you or put up with your crap because you are black, white anything else. So get over yourselves, grow up and stop using race to intimidate and manipulate the American people."
