ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla., Feb. 19, 2025 /Standard Newswire/ -- Former prison minister Marty Angelo recently asked President Trump for an official presidential pardon. This is the second time Angelo has approached President Trump asking for a pardon. Angelo was so impressed by all the great work the president was doing especially in various prisons, reaching out and commuting sentences and early releasing many inmates.
Angelo was released from prison back in 1984 after serving two years for a drug possession charge. During his incarceration Angelo became a full-time minister and graduated from four Bible correspondence colleges and ministered throughout the Federal Correctional Institution in Lexington Kentucky. He conducted daily Bible studies and prayer circles.
Former Nixon White House aide Charles “Chuck” Colson met Angelo while speaking at an Easter service and encouraged him to rely on God to open all the necessary doors for him. After his release Angelo eventually was hired by Colson to work as a director for his Prison Fellowship Ministries.
Angelo also worked in three similar ministries and eventually was a critical part of developing and the first accredited residential drug treatment program in the country entitled the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Substance Abuse Awareness Program (S.A.A.P.) a.k.a. the Sheriff’s Drug Farm. The program helped thousands of local drug addicted inmates.
Angelo never felt the need to ask for a presidential pardon before President Trump. Many inmates related to Angelo’s experiences, and he wore his troubles as a badge of honor that brought him to his knees seeking God’s forgiveness. God made a way for Angelo for over 40 years until he retired in 2019 because of a serious medical issue. He concentrated on his writing and recently completed his 32nd book. He has donated hundreds of thousands of his books to our nation’s prisons, jails, treatment programs, politicians and various troubled celebrities.
Angelo who recently turned 78 years old now thinks a presidential pardon would be one of his greatest accomplishments, especially by one of the best presidents America ever has.
