ENUMCLAW, Wash., June 28, 2019 /Standard Newswire/ -- Two women who were influenced by a classic Bible study on trusting God, written by Verna Birkey, wanted others to be exposed to its powerful truths. Nearly thirty years ago, Verna Birkey wrote If God Is in Control, Why Is My World Falling Apart? Birkey ministered worldwide to thousands of women through the Enriched Living Workshops. She taught practical, timely messages that applied biblical truth to family life and everyday issues, and she published thirteen books.
Heather Craig and Claire McCarey of Belfast, Northern Ireland, adapted the book, modernized the language, and heightened its appeal to both women and men. The result is the new release Trust Me: Learning to Trust that God Is Good and in Control Even When Life Is Difficult (Redemption Press, April 2019). This revised, updated, and expanded version of Birkey’s classic gem contains illustrations from life, discussion questions, and suggestions for in-depth individual or group study. Faith will be strengthened, trust rebuilt, and perspectives shifted by the truths of Scripture on how to trust God in all circumstances.
Claire McCarey, an educator, and Heather Craig, a social worker, are involved in teaching, leadership training, and discipleship in the Belfast Collective church, along with their husbands. Verna Birkey, a vibrant ninety-one, serves God by visiting residents in local care homes in Lancaster, PA, where she resides.
“Claire and Heather have done us all a great service by updating Verna Birkey’s book. Birkey’s teaching is biblical, practical, and compassionate,” says Gary Delashmutt, author and co-founder of Xenos Christian Fellowship in Columbus, Ohio.
