CHARLESTON, SC, Sept. 4 /Standard Newswire/ -- For the first time in church history, The Tetelestai Cross portraying the finished work of Christ on the Cross, has become a visual personal encounter that invites the viewer to come face-to-face with his sins and Jesus' atoning grace.
Photo: Tetelestai Cross displayed at First Baptist Atlanta Church Pastored by Dr. Charles Stanley
The Holy Spirit-inspired relief sculpture, by Christian Artist Sandra Joy Perini, is a 3-dimensional, cross-shaped broken mirror designed to reflect our broken relationship with the Lord, because of sin. Each of the mirror's broken pieces is stained with a different sin, engraved out of the silvering from behind, and painted red for the atoning blood of Christ.
A representative sculpting of the Lord's arm protrudes from under the cross, holding a replica of the flanged Roman nails used to crucify Him. The nail wound in his wrist is visible, as it will be for all eternity.
The frame of the 40 lb., 45" X 27" relief sculpture is bordered with chains broken in the corners, signifying the power of the Risen Christ breaking the power of sin in a believer's life. In the background of the sculpture are the last words of Christ on the Cross ... TETELESTAI ... "IT IS FINISHED." JOHN 19:30
What Church Leaders and Lay People Are Saying
"Just recently we put up 'Tetelestai' in a huge Sunday School Department at First Baptist Atlanta where Dr. Charles Stanley is the Pastor. He loved the artwork. It says so much. We have it displayed next to a huge banner of the Ten Commandments. It is making an impact. People stare at it and realize that Christ died for them. I had the opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with a pretty rough looking youth. It was such a visual that the youth said that he understood the meaning of the cross. He understood that is where all his debt was paid. The literal meaning of 'tetelestai' is 'the debt is paid, or paid in full.'
"The art piece invokes a response. Hopefully, the youth will truly repent of his sins, and fully understand that Christ came to pay his sin debt in full. Tetelestai made the witness more real."
-- Paul Diamond, Assistant to Dr. Stanley, First Baptist Atlanta
Mrs. Perini,
"The church I Pastor, Sawdust Road Baptist, recently gave me one of your pieces of artwork for my birthday. 'Tetelestai', I saw it while in Ridgecrest North Carolina shopping in the Life Way Store and said to one of our ladies jokingly that it would look nice in the Pastor Study.
"When I look at the artwork each day I will be reminded of what I have already experienced in my life some 25 years ago because of the finished work of Jesus on the Cross at Calvary... Ephesians 2:13 says; 'But now in Christ Jesus you who were once far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.'"

"Not since Footprints in the Sand has an artistic piece portrayed the personalized aspect of our relationship with our Redeemer, and further, in such a fashion as to bring us face-to-face with the faults and frailties of our human flesh, allowing the Holy Spirit to convict us so consciously." -- Jeff Rosenthal, Completed Jew / Creative Art Consultant.
1 John 3:4 - Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. Romans 7:7 - I would not have known about sin except through the Law. Galatians 3:24 - Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. Tetelestai vividly reflects the heart of the gospel message, personally. The wages of "my" sin is death (Romans 3:23), and Jesus paid "my" sin debt in full (John 19:30). It is finished! The debt has been paid. -- Paul Diamond, Assistant to Dr. Stanley, First Baptist Atlanta
TETELESTAI is an ideal ministry tool and work of art for any church ministry or Christian business. Sandra Joy has other inspired relief sculptures and paintings that touch the soul. Each comes with a color coordinated parchment framed plaque with a description of the symbolism and scriptures that inspired the piece. She and her husband are available for interviews.
