WASHINGTON, Oct. 25, 2011 /Standard Newswire/ -- After 18 years as a missionary to top government officials in Washington, DC, the Reverend Rob Schenck, president of Faith and Action in the Nation's Capital, says there are hopeful signs of a spiritual awakening among elected and appointed officials.

As just one example of this hope, Schenck pointed to the recent announcement that the Congressional Prayer Caucus, a voluntary group of lawmakers dedicated to recognizing the vital role prayer plays as a fundamental and enduring feature of American life, has, for the first time, reached 100 members, nearly a quarter of the whole House of Representatives. Schenck also noted that the Caucus is bi-partisan and is co-chaired by a Republican and a Democrat.
"Prayer is always a hopeful sign," said Schenck, "and the members of this prayer caucus do more than talk about prayer -- they actually pray together. That has to be good for the future of our country and our civilization."
Schenck said his ministry, Faith and Action, will launch a national campaign to ask Christians to pray with the members of the Caucus and to thank members for "seeking God together at a time when our nation needs divine intervention."
