MADISON, Wis., June 27, 2025 /Standard Newswire/ — IOC President Kirsty Coventry said there is now “overwhelming support” among International Olympic Committee members to protect females from transgender athletes.

During her first meeting as the IOC's new president, Coventry said a taskforce of scientists and international federations will be set up within weeks to come up with new policies.

The new policies are expected to ban transgender athletes, emphasizing the sexual development differences between the sexes. However, Coventry said the results from previous Olympics would not be affected.

4 WINDS USA President Steve McConkey has opposed the LGBTQ sports movement since 2003. “We are thanking God that the Olympic Committee is finally coming around after years of confusion and compromise,” states McConkey. “It has been a long hard ride since 2003. We were a voice in the wilderness for years but knew that those at the grassroots level would eventually stand up and common sense would prevail.”

As he ministers to Olympic athletes, Steve stands up worldwide for Christian athletes. For example, he fights against atheists trying to stop Christian activity in sports and opposes those attacking Christian athletes.

• In 2003, Steve started fighting against the International Olympic Committee’s transgender policies. He was the only person who stood against this publicly. Steve called various IOC members and was in contact with the USA Olympic Committee. From there, the transgender sports movement spread to high schools, all the way to the Olympics. Steve has fought this agenda every step of the way. Eventually, Olympic track and field, swimming, and other sports stopped transgender athletes.

• Steve tried to sue the International Olympic Committee before the 2016 Olympics in Rio to stop the women’s 800m race. However, the lawyers said that he could not because he did not have a vested interest in the race. Steve was concerned that intersex athletes (not transgender) would sweep the race. That is exactly what happened as they had high untested testosterone levels. This was a turning point as Olympic sports organizations started to pay attention.

• In 2019, Steve asked Rasmussen polling to do a poll on transgender athletes. It was the first poll that was done on the subject in the United States. At that time, only 28% of Americans were for transgender athletes.

• In March 2022, Steve went to Washington DC to talk to elected officials. He asked them to go beyond stopping transgender athletes and to include the dangers of transgender hormones and surgeries on adolescents in future bills. Later, Steve visited forty-five elected officials at the Wisconsin Capitol and went to other state capitals giving them the same message. Afterwards, many started doing what Steve suggested nationally and at state levels. More than half the states have stopped transgender athletes. President Trump signed an executive order stopping transgender athletes.

• On October 4, 2023, Steve spoke at three hearings at the Wisconsin Capitol. Two bills were against transgender athletes on high school and college teams. The third bill was against the transgender surgeries and hormone treatments for those under eighteen. The bills passed the Assembly and Senate, but Governor Evers vetoed them.

• During the 2024 Olympics, Steve opposed the International Olympic Committee for telling the media to not use certain words to address athletes, including the words “husband and wife.” Also, he provided evidence that the United Nations and the Olympic Committee work together to implement the radical 2030 Agenda.
