While many previously unknown artists are now enjoying worldwide success, there have been other segments unable to plug into this viral marketing machine. What if a place existed where charities, ministries and non-profits could collaborate and connect with members to make a real difference in the world? The answer may be found in the least of likely places. Far from the reaches and trappings of Silicon Valley, a small company located in the sleepy fishing village of Pawleys Island is trying to build a social network for the greater good.
Oaktreeidea.com has recently launched a social network to help people collaborate and make a positive difference in the world. On face value, one notices that the site includes all the features from the typical social network (blogs, friends list, message center, photo book, etc.), but dig a little deeper and you will discover that this site has much "higher" aspirations.
"We want to be a launching pad for charities, non-profits, ministries and churches in the world," said Brady Stump, founder of Oaktreeidea.com. "We feature profiles and tools specifically geared for these groups so that they can create an online presence within a social network environment."
In addition to outreach groups, individuals that are interested in making an impact in the world are encouraged to join the "positive" social network.
"Users not involved in any specific group have the ability to check out different charitable organizations and churches, while others will use the site to promote their non-profit or ministry activities," says Stump.
With social networking aspirations like those set out by Oaktreeidea.com, Stump and his team may have all internet users making a positive difference soon.
