WASHINGTON, May 14 /Standard Newswire/ -- House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today hailed news that the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) will join the growing state legal revolt against President Obama's health care law, which Boehner -- a former small businessman -- and other Republicans have warned will hurt the economy and threaten millions of American jobs.

"Across the nation, small businesses are sounding the alarm that the health care law is a threat to American jobs and must be repealed," Boehner said.  "I commend the National Federation of Independent Businesses for standing with states on behalf of America's small businesses in the revolt against this job-crushing health care law."

Boehner contrasted the small business announcement with President Obama's statement Thursday in Buffalo, in which the president accused his political rivals of "sitting on the sidelines" in the effort to create jobs.

"The American people watched with disbelief for nearly a year as President Obama and Speaker Pelosi put all their energy into passing a job-killing health care takeover instead of seeking bipartisan solutions to boost our economy and help create jobs.  Now that this legislation is law, it presents a grave threat to small business job creation that will hamper our economy for years to come if it is not overturned or repealed," Boehner said.  "If President Obama is serious about finally getting focused on jobs, he should take note of the rising small business opposition to his health care overhaul and heed the calls of the American people for its repeal."

Prior to his election to Congress, Boehner ran a small business in West Chester, Ohio, and decided to run for office after seeing first-hand how heavy-handed government policies can discourage private-sector job-creation and diminish opportunities.
