SAN DIEGO, Cali., Jan. 29 /Standard Newswire/ -- After promising Christian and pro-family leaders that there would be a meeting to discuss ESPN anchor Dana Jacobson's anti-Christian rant, the network has determined not to hold the meetings and that the matter is settled. Some have asked for her to be fired, or suspended for one year; but ESPN has determined to suspend her for one week with no pay for her outrageous remarks. Dr. Gary L. Cass, of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission was working to broker a meeting of pro-family leaders and ESPN's executive leadership.

Speaking at an event in Atlantic City, N.J., to honor ESPN Radio personalities Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic, Jacobson, apparently intoxicated, let go with extremely vulgar remarks like "F--- Notre Dame," "F--Touchdown Jesus" and finally "F--- Jesus."

"No more meetings," said Mike Soltys, Executive Vice President of Communications for ESPN. Soltys confirmed that no more disciplinary actions will be taken against Jacobson and said her remarks were only directed at Notre Dame football. Cass asked for the tapes of the event to be released so Jacobson's words could be verified. Soltys refused and said that the tapes will not be made public.

"We are very disappointed with ESPN's response to our legitimate concerns," said Cass. "I cannot imagine that if Jacobson had made racist, remarks ESPN would not meet with Al Sharpton." Christians must respond or expect more of this kind of blasphemy in public in the future," said Cass. "We are calling people of faith to contact ESPN and register their disgust."

In the opening remarks by Jacobson's in her return to her show today, she made an "apology."

"Only three of the thirteen sentences were in any way even slightly apologetic," said Cass. "The rest seems self-absorbed and expresses no empathy for those of the Christian Community whom she offended."
