On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (H.R. 3590) into law. Recently the House of Representatives passed a bill that would repeal the Affordable Care Act in its entirety. When similar legislation came up in the Senate it failed to get enough votes to pass by only four votes. Two of those votes belonged to Virginia Senators Mark Warner and Jim Webb.
Virginia voters have seen their Senators vote against them and instead side with the liberal Obama/Pelosi/Reid agenda time after time. Just before Christmas one year ago, Senator Webb cast the deciding vote for Cloture to allow the Health Care bill to move forward. Yesterday, he had the opportunity for a, 'do over' but choose not to correct his record despite admitting there are serious flaws in the legislation.
If subjecting our citizens to socialized medicine was not bad enough, the cost this legislation will add to our National debt adds insult to injury. Yet Senator Harry Reid has made false claims regarding both the costs and savings associated with the law. Glenn Kessler of the Washington Post has repeatedly debunked Senator Harry Reid's claims that repealing the law would "add a trillion dollars to the deficit," and most recently that the new health care law has saved the government $4 billion so far in fraudulent claims, neither of these claims are true.
Additionally, two Federal Judges have ruled the legislation unconstitutional. Senators Webb and Warner have both forgotten the oath they took when they were sworn into office -- the oath to uphold the Constitution. Voters will remember this in 2012 as they cast their vote for a new Senator to replace Jim Webb.
