MEDIA ADVISORY, Sept. 28 /Standard Newswire/ -- During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer encourages activists to:
1) Challenge cancer fundraising businesses to tell the truth about the abortion-breast cancer (ABC) link and seek resignations from their leaders who were previously associated with abortion groups;
2) Give a tax-deductible donation to the Coalition; www.abortionbreastcancer.com/support/index.htm
3) Distribute the Coalition's newly updated brochures exposing the ABC link. (See: www.abortionbreastcancer.com/store/brochures/ ); and
4) Urge legislators to require health officials and doctors to inform women about the link.
For a small sum of money, activists can make a difference in women's lives by distributing brochures at churches, crisis pregnancy centers, cancer walks, conferences and doctors' offices.
Planned Parenthood's vice president for medical affairs, Vanessa Cullins, MD, told the Associated Press in 2004 that women should not be informed about the ABC link because it would make them feel "guilty" - a strange, self-serving admission coming from those who maintain that abortion does not cause emotional harm. No one feels guilty after being exposed to other carcinogens. Why does Cullins think women feel guilty after an abortion?
No woman ever deserves to develop breast cancer. True compassion demands that we inform women with abortion histories about strategies that they can adopt to reduce breast cancer risk. (See www.bcpinstitute.org/booklet3.htm#lowering.)
True compassion requires that we tell young people contemplating an abortion about the undisputed, risk-reducing effects of childbearing and breastfeeding and the risk-increasing effect of abortion.
The Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer is an international women's organization founded to protect the health and save the lives of women by educating and providing information on abortion as a risk factor for breast cancer.
