LONDON, April 25, 2011 /Standard Newswire/-- Committed to campaigning for the social teachings of the churches, the Scottish Christian Peoples Alliance (SCPA) outlined its manifesto commitments over the Easter weekend in the two regions it is running party lists - in Mid Scotland & Fife and in Lothian. Called "Loving God and Neighbour - Politics for a Fairer Scotland", the manifesto appeals to Christians across all Scotland's denominations who want their MSPs to speak up on the full breadth of what the Church teaches. The manifesto addresses social justice issues in combination with moral and ethical concerns and a range of policies intended to boost job creation.
Speaking to voters after a sunrise Easter Day service outside the castle in Stirling, National Co-ordinator for the Christian Peoples Alliance in Scotland, Rob Smith, said that no other party in Scotland was campaigning for such a balanced platform of Christian priorities:
"Just one or two MSPs could be effective voices for Christian Democracy in Holyrood. This manifesto for fairness outlines a thought-through and considered response to the challenges facing Scotland. Our election could be the start of restoring Christian Democratic priorities to the heart of law and democracy in Holyrood."
The manifesto, "Loving God and Neighbour - Politics for a Fairer Scotland" can be read in full on the party's website.
It has 6 key policy commitments:
1. Investing in relationships

The SCPA is pointing out that 2nd regional votes from just 15,000 churchgoers in each region is enough to win a seat. Linked to other Christian Democratic parties across Europe, the SCPA sees the parliamentary elections for Holyrood as a stepping-stone to offering Christian Democracy across Scotland.
