WASHINGTON, Oct. 18, 2013 /Standard Newswire/ -- Judicial Watch applauded today's decision by U.S. District Court Judge Claude Hilton (in the case of Democratic Party of Virginia v. Virginia State Board of Elections, et al., (Case No. 13-cv-1218) to deny a petition by the Democratic Party of Virginia seeking to prevent the Virginia Board of Elections from removing tens of thousands of ineligible voters from voter registration rolls. Judicial Watch and the Allied Educational Foundation had filed an amicus brief, which was considered by the federal court, supporting the effort to by Virginia officials to clean up voter registration rolls. Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton issued the following statement in response to the ruling:
"We are pleased that Judge Hilton affirmed the common sense notion that Virginia can remove the names of ineligible voters, tens of thousands of whom seem to be registered to vote in more than one state.
