SCOTTSDALE, Az., Oct. 4, 2018 /Standard Newswire/ -- "Hilton Head Island" returns exclusively to PureFlix.com starting tomorrow for its second season with faith, family and intrigue taking center stage.
The 22-episode series, which debuted last year and become one of the most-watched series on the PureFlix.com streaming video platform, has been referred to as "hope opera," as it avoids the sexuality, violence and language usually associated with traditional soap operas.
There's plenty of drama, however, associated with the fictional Trisk family in "Hilton Head Island"--especially with Linda Gray (best remembered as Sue Ellen Ewing on '80s favorite Dallas) in her role as "Eloise Breckenridge."
This season's focus is on the battle for control of the ISLE Television Network, which the Trisks own, and Gray's attempt to destroy the patriarch of the family (Daniel Trisk, played by Michael Swan).
Gray is joined by several other stars in "Hilton Head Island," including Antonio Sabato Jr. (General Hospital, Melrose Place), Crystal Hunt (One Life to Live), and Swan (As The World Turns, The Bold and the Beautiful). The cast also includes legendary game show host Wink Martindale and former Olympian Jamie Nieto.
"We've found a formula that replaces traditional soap opera debauchery with strong family values and the characters' reliance on their faith to overcome adversity," said Pure Flix.com CEO Greg Gudorf. "Based on the strong viewership numbers from the first season, the formula is definitely working for our audience."
"Hilton Head Island" is the first of PureFlix.com's original series to move into a second season.
It will be available to PureFlix.com subscribers beginning October 5. For others, the show can be watched by signing up for a free, one-month trial subscription on PureFlix.com.
New episodes for another original series, "Malibu Dan," will debut in mid-November. Additional series and original programming are slated for 2019 as the platform continues to expand its subscriber base.
