WASHINGTON, Dec. 30, 2010 /Standard Newswire/ -- Today, the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) released a Skype interview with Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele who is seeking re-election in 2011. Chairman Steele's interview can be viewed here www.sba-list.org/RNCChair along with those of other candidates conducted last week, including Saul Anuzis, Gentry Collins, Reince Priebus and Ann Wagner. As of now, SBA List has interviewed five of the six candidates attending the January 3 debate with the exception of Maria Cino. The debate is being co-sponsored by Americans for Tax Reform (ATR), the SBA List and the Daily Caller. (Event details below.)
"The next RNC chairman must affirm the Right to Life in principle and promote it operationally through the 2012 election cycle," said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. "The strength of the pro-life grassroots movement was clearly displayed in the midterm election results and, through these interviews, candidates are speaking directly to the movement."
The interviews, conducted by SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser, American Principles Project (APP) Board Member and National Organization for Marriage (NOM) Chair Maggie Gallagher and APP President Frank Cannon, cover candidates' positions on Life and traditional marriage and plans to promote those values as RNC Chairman. Over the past two weeks, SBA List and like-minded groups have promoted the interviews to a 500,000-activist grassroots network, encouraging them to vote on questions to be asked at the January debate on RNCDebate.org. Submissions dealing with the Life and marriage issue have garnered the most votes on the site to date.
Additionally, the SBA List has launched a grassroots Action Center where activists can lobby voting RNC members in their respective states. The SBA List will also encourage activists to submit questions to be asked at the debate via Twitter.
On January 3, 2011, the SBA List will co-sponsor a debate with Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) and the Daily Caller in which candidates will share their stances on Life and traditional marriage and plans to integrate those priorities as RNC Chair. The event will take place in the Ballroom of the National Press Club and will broadcast live on C-SPAN. It will also stream live online at RNCdebate.org and DailyCaller.com between 1:00pm and 2:30pm ET.
