MEDIA ADVISORY, Sept. 29 /Standard Newswire/ -- Crystal Woodman Miller, a Columbine High School victim who watched ten of her friends killed, turned her nightmare into a wake up call to help other teens and victims of violent crime by telling her story. Miller is now a national spokesperson traveling the globe bringing a message of hope tens of thousands of teen and family members who are victims of terrorism.
“The Platte Canyon shooting brings back incredible emotion from my seven-and-a-half minutes inside the Columbine library. In the moments and days after the shooting, there were so many people who tried to comfort me and say there was purpose, but I didn’t have ears to hear it . . . you have to walk through the emotion, the pain, guilt, anger, and fear and know hope is at the end.” -- Crystal Woodman Miller, Columbine survivor
WHO: Crystal Woodman Miller--Columbine School survivor, national teen spokesperson, and author of Columbine-related book
WHAT: Immediately available for interviews regarding the Platte Canyon School shootings
“It brings back incredible emotion from those seven-and-a-half minutes inside that library, but my perspective has changed to recognize that people live with terrible experiences everyday and I need to move beyond myself to lend a hand in the healing,” said Miller.
Miller has written a recent book called Marked for Life. It’s her story of survival and healing with a foreword written by Franklin Graham, son of evangelist Billy Graham, president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse international relief organization.
Miller traveled to Beslan, Russia, in 2004 to help Graham’s project Operation Christmas Child reach out to families devastated by the school terrorism acts that left more than 300 dead. In 1999 and 2000 Miller also took her message of hope overseas to young victims of violence in Kosovo.
Miller now shares her story inside schools on the 180 Tour--an assembly program started by Miller and Christian music group Casting Pearls in January of this year. The 180 Tour has brought Miller’s message of hope to hundreds of teenagers. The 180 Tour is challenging teens to make the decision to live beyond themselves and to reach out to classmates, community, state, and the world to make a difference and stop violence.
