WASHINGTON, Jan. 16, 2025 /Standard Newswire/ -- Rev. Patrick Mahoney and Peggy Nienaber held a prayer and consecration service on Wednesday evening at the exact doorway Donald Trump will walk through before he is sworn in as the 47th President on January 20.

Rev. Mahoney is Director of the Christian Defense Coalition based in Washington, D.C. and Peggy Neinaber is the Senior Vice-President for Faith and Liberty.

Rev. Mahoney and Ms. Nienaber have held prayer and consecration services at the Capitol for both democrat and republic Presidential Inaugurations in the past.

As part of the consecration service, Rev. Mahoney read the late Rev. Billy Graham’s Inauguration prayer from 1969.

Some excerpts include:

“So we pray, O God, as we enter a new era, that we as a nation may experience a moral and spiritual restoration.

“You have said, 'Promotion comes not from the east nor from the west, but from You.' We acknowledge Your divine help in the selection of our leadership each four years. We recognize, O Lord, that in Your sovereignty You have permitted Donald Trump to lead us at this momentous hour of our history.

“God, our new President needs You as no man ever needed You in leading a people! There will be times when he will be overwhelmed by the problems at home and abroad that have been building up to the breaking point for many years. Protect him from physical danger. And in the lonely moments of decision grant him an uncompromising courage to do what is morally right. Give him a cool head and a warm heart. Give him a compassion for those in physical, moral, and spiritual need.”

Peggy Nienaber, Senior Vice-President for Faith and Liberty, states;

“Prayer has been a critical part in preparing for the inaugural ceremony. George Washington himself recognized the importance of prayer in one’s own personal life and in the nation’s governance. He attributed the power of prayer to the success of the American Revolution and the founding of the United States.
