SAN DIEGO, Calif., July 4, 2024 /Standard Newswire/ -- As a 4th of July celebration, residents remember how their home town of Coffeyville, Kansas, a very special rural town, became the home of a very special hymn, 'Creator of the Universe' (The Space Force Hymn). And they would like to offer the public free downloads.

Here is a reprint from the February 29, 2020 edition of the Coffeyville Journal, vol. 132, no. 18. It tells the story of how this remarkable, rural, rough, mid-western town, internationally known for the Dalton Gang's raid on two banks in one day on October 5, 1892, became "Home of the United States Space Force Hymn."

On February 12, 2020, Rev. James F. Linzey, who served as a highly decorated Air Force Captain, felt led by Almighty God to write the Space Force Hymn. He set his pen to paper the next day. He had been working on the hymn on an old upright piano that was out of tune in the former Dalton Museum building in Coffeyville, Kansas, which he was cleaning. On February 20, 2020, he completed the hymn, what many believe to be his lasting legacy for the Department of the Air Force for which he served as an officer for 12 years. Coffeyville proudly serves as home of the United States Space Force Hymn, 'Creator of the Universe.'

To celebrate the 4th of July, Coffeyville residents would like to offer music directors, worship leaders, pastors, church members, and military members free downloads of the sheet music, recording, and video of the Space Force Hymn for worship services, patriotic events, or personal use.
