FIREPROOF and FACING THE GIANTS producer David Nixon, to direct inspirational movie set for release on March 12, 2010

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Oct. 20 /Standard Newswire/ -- Vivendi Entertainment (VE) has announced it has acquired North American distribution rights for Possibility Pictures' feature LETTERS TO GOD, a faith-based film inspired by a true story. The deal covers all rights including theatrical, television, DVD, digital and mobile. The film recently wrapped production in Orlando, Florida and will be released theatrically nationwide on March 12, 2010.
Directed by David Nixon, best known as one of the producers of FIREPROOF and FACING THE GIANTS and co-directed by Patrick Doughtie, LETTERS TO GOD stars Robyn Lively (THE KARATE KID PART III, WILDCATS), Jeffrey S.S. Johnson (HELTER SKELTER, A COAT OF SNOW), Tanner Maguire (SAVING SARAH CAIN, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER), Maree Cheatham (MR. & MRS. SMITH, BEETLEJUICE), Michael Christopher Bolten (HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, THE WOODS HAVE EYES), Bailee Madison (BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA, the upcoming DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK) and Ralph Waite (THE WALTONS, COOL HAND LUKE).
The film is the first from Possibility Pictures which is led by Nixon, along with producer Kim Dawson (BOBBY JONES: STROKE OF GENIUS, TEEANGE MUTANT NINJA TURLES I,II,III), executive producer Tom Swanson (COME AWAY HOME), and writer Sandra Thrift. Based on a story written by Doughtie inspired by his son's battle with cancer, the screenplay is written by Doughtie, Art D'Alessandro, Thrift and Cullen Douglas.
LETTERS TO GOD is a heartfelt tale of faith and redemption that will both inspire and entertain. It is the story of a young boy coping with cancer and the amazing impact his faith in God has on his family, his classmates, and his community.
Tyler (Maguire) is a 9-year old who copes with the challenges of his treatment by writing letters addressed to God. His letters eventually find their way into the hands of Brady (Johnson), a beleaguered postman who is battling his own demons. At first, Brady is confused and conflicted over what to do with the letters. But he comes to realize that he was chosen to receive them for a reason, and ultimately the decision he makes about the letters creates an enduring legacy to Tyler's spirit.
