Fredericksburg Pregnancy Center to Become Choices Women's Center
Contact: Laura Echevarria, 540-370-1800

FREDERICKSBURG, Va., Oct. 31, 2016 /Standard Newswire/ -- The Fredericksburg Pregnancy Center (FPC) announced on October 31st that it will be transitioning over the next few months to its new name: Choices Women's Center (CWC).

"While our name may change, our mission remains the same: to empower those facing unplanned pregnancy with hope and life-affirming choices," stated Denise Swett, executive director of the center.

The transition for the new client website, www.fredericksburgchoices.com, featuring the new name and logo was unveiled in early October.

The Fredericksburg Pregnancy Center (now Choices Women's Center) was incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia in 2012 and provides free and confidential services to anyone facing an unplanned pregnancy. FPC/CWC offers ultrasound confirmation, pregnancy testing, and medical consultation, education concerning abortion and abortion alternatives, education about lifestyles, marriage, and relationships. FPC/CWC is connected with many area agencies and able to offer resource referrals and adoption referrals. Routinely, FPC/CWC holds post-abortion support healing groups assisting with abortion recovery as well as education in parenting and prenatal classes through our Earn While You Learn parenting program for mothers and fathers. On the off hours, FPC/CWC is still available through its 24-hour hotline and 24-hour texting. In addition, beginning on September 7th, the center began seeing clients at its Caroline county location.

"Our new name reflects not only our purpose but also our scope. We want to be able to provide clients with true choices," stated Swett. "A young woman needs to know that she can protect the life of her child and finish college or high school. She needs to know that there are people in our community who will support her decision to place her child for adoption with a loving family. She also needs to know that if she makes the decision to have an abortion that there will be people willing to pray with her and love her through the pain and sorrow of her loss. These are real choices."

FPC/Choices Women's Center serves clients primarily from Planning District 16 which is comprised of Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George, Caroline, and the City of Fredericksburg but has seen clients from a much broader area including Bumpass, Doswell, and Montross.
