Even though Wasinger has spent over $200,000 in advertising, every poll puts him in the single digit range with his best polling data at 8 percentage points.
Wasinger is struggling because he is considered by many Kansans to be a Washington insider since he spent the majority of the last two decades living in Washington, D.C. where he has been out of touch with the issues facing the people of Western Kansas.
While Wasinger is considered to be pro-life, his presence in the race could draw away votes from a more experienced and proven pro-life conservative to the extent that the worst of the candidates could potentially win.
Therefore, Operation Rescue, one of the nation's leading pro-life organizations, calls upon Mr. Wasinger to withdraw from the KS 1st District Congressional race for the good of the pro-life cause.
"Too often pro-life candidates defeat themselves and hurt pro-life efforts by running against each other in primary elections, thereby splitting the pro-life vote and allowing the liberal or moderate, big tent Republican to get elected. Wasinger can't win, and if he stays in the race he will act as a 'spoiler,' ensuring that the best man will not make it to Washington, D.C.," said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue.
"For the good of Kansas, for the good of the Republican Party, and for the good of the babies we ask that Mr. Wasinger remove himself from this race."
