ATLANTA, March 15, 2024 /Standard Newswire/ -- Members of the King family announce a service to celebrate the life of matriarch Mrs. Naomi Ruth Barber King, mother of Dr. Alveda King, who passed away peacefully on March 7, 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 92. The Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, March 16th at Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church and will honor her memory.
Mrs. King was a civil rights activist and wife of Rev. Alfred Daniel (A.D.) Williams King, a Baptist minister and the younger brother of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
She will be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a beacon of light to those in the churches and communities she served. She was a woman of quiet dignity, overcoming strength, and steadfast support to her husband, family, and circles of influence within and beyond Atlanta.

What: Celebration of Life Service for Naomi King

Details: Program will include reflections from family members and friends, special musical tributes, and clips from the documentary about Mrs. King, The Butterfly Queen: From Tragedy to Peace. Butterflies will be released in front of the King Center following the service.
The Celebration of Life Service will give friends, family and the wider community a chance to commemorate the life and legacy of this inspiring, influential woman, and thank God for the blessing of our beloved Naomi King.
In addition to the public-facing Celebration of Life, the family will host a memorial service on Friday night. Both gatherings will be live-streamed and can be accessed on the funeral home webpage: www.williewatkins.com
