WASHINGTON, May 15 /Standard Newswire/ -- Groups to share their concerns at a news conference on Wednesday, May 16 at 10:00 A.M. outside of the Department of Justice (Pennsylvania Ave. Side).
Leaders are also sending a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. The text of the letter is available online at: www.earnedmedia.org/gonzales.htm
Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, comments, "It is important for the Department of Justice to give assurances to the American people as to how and when they plan to enforce the federal ban on this barbaric procedure. A Supreme Court decision means very little if it is not enforced. Now is the time for the Attorney General to publicly share the strategies the Department of Justice has put in place to guarantee the rule of law is honored."
Dr. Paul Schenk, Director of The National Pro-life Action Center, states, "The ban on partial-birth abortions is the law of the land. If the law is going to be respected, the Attorney General needs to enforce it. The American people have determined that this indefensible act is a crime. It needs to be treated as such."
Kaitlin Mahoney, Spokesperson for Generation Life, states, "Partial-birth abortion is a violent procedure which destroys innocent life. Americans want partial-birth abortions banned and Congress voted in a bi-partisan fashion to end the practice. I would hope that the Bush Administration will move as quickly as possible to see innocent life is protected and the law is enforced."
