ATLANTA, April 4, 2024 /Standard Newswire/ -- The following is submitted by Dr. Alveda King, she is available for comment:

"I've heard the thunder roll. I've felt sin-breakers dashing, trying to conquer my soul. But I heard the voice of Jesus saying still to fight on. He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone." Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

"And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh." Genesis 17:19

Good afternoon, friends. Today, 56 years ago, my uncle, my father Rev. A. D. King's brother, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, was shot and killed at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, by a man who reportedly shot and hoped to kill MLK's great and widespread dream of unity.

The man who reportedly killed my uncle believed that America was founded on principles that justified radical racist ideologies. But he missed the truth: that written into the heart and inscribed upon the soul of this country was an irrepressible, God-given protection for all members of our One Blood Human Race: "All men [humans] are created equal."

Praise God... The dream didn't die with my uncle. His dream is alive, and so are our dreams; for our Lord Jesus is alive.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention the passing of my mother Dr. Naomi Ruth Barber King on March 7, 2024 so close to this anniversary of the death of my beloved uncle. It makes this season doubly poignant.

So, while we honor  the memory and legacy of MLK, a beloved husband, father, uncle, and leader, as I also miss my mother, let us celebrate his dream of God's Love, Justice and mercy, that lives on, in Christ. Forever. Amen.
