TALLAHASSEE, Fl., Sept. 17 /Standard Newswire/ -- The Florida Federation of Republican Women today announced the launch of their Truth in Media 2008 project set to premiere on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 on www.ffrw.net.
According to Linda Ivell, president of the FFRW, the purpose of the movement is to reveal unfair and biased liberal reporting in the media as it pertains to the 2008 Presidential election cycle.
The FFRW gained unexpected yet welcomed national media attention in their first phase of the Florida project now referred to as the 'Oprah Boycott'. The group became flooded with emails from supporters, media and infuriated Oprah fans within hours.
The FFRW reports an 80% positive response to a movement that appears to have struck a nerve with the voting public nationwide. As for the 20% negative, Ms. Ivell says that 90% of those comments were so offensive, they were not publishable.
"Our message to celebrities and the media is that our members and women across this country are simply fed up with liberal bias in the media and an attempt by some to slant coverage and treat our Republican candidates with a bias not applied to Senators Obama and Biden. Since Governor Palin burst on to the national scene, political correctness seems to have evaporated. Republican women have the freedom of speech and we are joining with our sisters nationwide to use it to help us all uncover the truth in this unprecedented election, "said Ms. Ivell.
"As politically empowered women and largest segment of the voting population, we will not be deterred. We understand pop icons and editorializing journalists are certainly not going to decide the 2008 presidential election. We know women are smarter than that and the election of the next leaders of the free world it is much bigger than the opinions of celebrities. We are simply offering an alternative to the constant media barrage of slant and bias", said Ms. Ivell.
The members of the FFRW are committed to women's political empowerment and advocating for good government. The group can supply English and Spanish speaking commentators to address these vital issues of media bias.
